Welcome to my practice in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy in Aberdeen

I am an experienced and qualified Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist with a comfortable consulting room in Aberdeen city centre, within easy walking distance from Union Street.

Having spent many years working in psychotherapy and psychiatric services in the NHS, I have experience of working with individuals struggling with a wide range of relational, emotional and mental health difficulties.

Psychoanalytic Psychotherapists provide a talking therapy. They are often sought when people are experiencing a particularly challenging or stressful time in life and it is felt to be useful to have someone outside our social sphere who can hold a confidential space to talk about and understand our struggles. Some people may be experiencing stress in their working life or having difficulties in their personal relationships. Others may have experienced a particularly distressing event or have specific symptoms, such as those associated with anxiety or depression.

Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy can reduce symptoms and ease emotional distress but it is also a treatment that can be helpful beyond these current concerns. Since Freud wrote of the importance of knowing the unconscious parts of ourselves, many others have discovered the benefits of speaking with a Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist. Psychoanalytic treatment can therefore be a means of self-discovery and personal growth, leading to a capacity to have a more engaged and fulfilling life.
